Well Key®

Dimple Tool (ShiftLoK)

Welltec Key Dimple 1920X1080 00000

The Well Key® Dimple Tool is designed to permanently lock open surface-controlled subsurface safety valves (SCSSVs) in a single run.

With pinpoint accuracy, it deforms the sleeve by making “dimples” in its surface, securing the sleeve in a fixed open position. Active hydraulic control and a high expansion ratio ensure full integrity of downhole jewelry and reduced risk, as the tool is only opened once it reaches target depth.

As an added option, the ShiftLoK configuration integrates a mechanical shifting feature, enabling operators to shift the flow tube and then dimple it in a single run – providing a reliable solution even when valves are mechanically inoperable.

Case Highlights

Featured case

A critical well barrier issue in the North Sea prompted the rapid development of a hybrid ShiftLoK solution. Within just 10 days, Welltec designed, tested, and deployed the tool to shift, dimple, and lock open an inoperable DHSV in a single run. Together with cable recovery, the operation restored well access and re-established integrity for continued intervention.
